Baseball Recap: Centennial Finds Playoff Glory Versus Ridgevue

Centennial had already proven themselves in the regular season and they didn't miss a beat now that it's playoff time. They walked away with a 6-3 win over the Ridgevue Warhawks on Friday. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 11-0 two weeks ago.

Cannon Haws made a splash while hitting and pitching. He struck out eight batters over five innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off three hits. That's the most strikeouts he has posted since back in March. He was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with one run and one RBI.

In other pitching news, Matt Romero looked comfortable as he pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off three hits. He has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances.

Back at the plate, the team relied heavily on Korbyn Nielsen, who went 1-for-2 with two runs and one RBI.

Centennial hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Ridgevue struck out 11 times.

Centennial's victory bumped their record up to 20-6. As for Ridgevue, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 12-11-1 record this season.

Centennial has already played their next game, a 4-2 defeat against Middleton on the 9th. Hopefully Ridgevue paid attention to the Patriots' contest: the next time they hit the field, they'll take on the Patriots at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday.
