Softball Recap: Camelback Takes a Loss

Camelback was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their seventh straight defeat. They came up short against the Maryvale Panthers, falling 9-1. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Panthers this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 11-1 last Tuesday.

Zitlalit Perez Corrales spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned (and six unearned) runs on three hits and racked up seven Ks. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in four consecutive appearances.

Camelback's loss dropped their record down to 1-11. As for Maryvale, their victory ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 7-4.

Coming up, Camelback will welcome Chandler at 3:45 p.m. on Monday. The Spartans' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Wolves have averaged an impressive 9.6 runs per game this season. As for Maryvale, they will head out on the road to face off against Tempe at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. The Panthers will need to watch out since the Buffaloes have now posted at least ten runs in their last five games.
