Basketball Recap: Youngker Takes a Loss

If Youngker was feeling good fresh off their 61-23 takedown of Independence last Tuesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Youngker Roughriders were outmatched by the Canyon View Jaguars and fell 86-28. The game marked the Roughriders' lowest-scoring matchup so far this season.

Several Roughriders players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Ashlee Gonzalez, who posted 13 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Reyna Albarado, who earned nine points.

Having lost for the first time this season, Youngker fell to 4-1. As for Canyon View, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 6-3.

When Youngker and Canyon View next hit the court, they'll be up against teams who recently just can't seem to lose. Youngker will try to stop Estrella Foothills' four-game winning streak when the meet at 4:00 p.m. on January 2, 2025. Youngker is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 54.2 points per game this season. Meanwhile, Canyon View will square off against Sunrise Mountain and their seven-game winning streak at 7:00 p.m. on January 8, 2025.
