Baseball Recap: Sonoma Valley Takes a Loss

Sonoma Valley was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their fourth straight defeat. They were two runs away from ending the streak, but they lost a 6-4 heartbreaker at the hands of the Las Lomas Knights. The Dragons were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Knights apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in March of 2024.

Sonoma Valley got a good showing from Henry Foster, who struck out seven batters over four innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off three hits (and only one walk). Those seven strikeouts gave Foster a new career-high.

At the plate, Sonoma Valley saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Colin Buckley, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-4.

Sonoma Valley's defeat dropped their record down to 2-10. As for Las Lomas, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 4-3-1 record this season.

Sonoma Valley will welcome Napa at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Sonoma Valley is facing Napa at the right time seeing as Napa is stuck on a five-game losing streak. As for Las Lomas, they will take on Freedom in a tournament on Monday. Freedom's pitching crew has only allowed 3.1 runs per game this season, so Las Lomas' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
