Softball Game Preview: Dunedin Falcons vs. Tarpon Springs Spongers

Dunedin is a perfect 10-0 against Tarpon Springs since May of 2019 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Wednesday. The Falcons will face off against the Spongers at 7:00 p.m. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty run totals in their previous games.

Dunedin is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Monday. They never let Anclote get on the board and left with a 19-0 victory. The win continues a trend for the Falcons in their matchups with the Sharks: they've now won seven in a row.

Charlotte Fleeman was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, getting on base in both of her plate appearances with two stolen bases and two runs. That's the most runs she has posted since back in February.

In other batting news, Aliyah Roseman was incredible, going a perfect 2-for-2 with six stolen bases, three runs, and four RBI. Those six stolen bases gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Jillian Ellison, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs, one triple, and one stolen base.

Dunedin kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 18 hits. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their hit total in three consecutive games.

Meanwhile, Tarpon Springs can bid farewell to their ten-game losing streak thanks to their game on Monday. They were the clear victors by a 16-10 margin over Boca Ciega. The Spongers not only won on Monday, but they posted their biggest win since March 11th (when they won 24-9).

Dunedin's record is now 17-5. As for Tarpon Springs, their record now sits at 5-15.

Dunedin took their victory against Tarpon Springs in their previous meeting back in February by a conclusive 15-0 score. Will the Falcons repeat their success, or do the Spongers have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
