Softball Recap: Chenango Valley Takes a Loss

Chenango Valley fought the good fight in their extra-innings matchup against Owego Free Academy on Friday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the River Hawks by a score of 6-5. The Warriors were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the River Hawks earlier this season, when they won 4-3.

Natalie Tyler spent all 7.2 innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and five unearned) runs on ten hits and racked up eight Ks. She has been consistent: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in five consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Mackenzie Hubenthal was cooking despite her team's loss, going 3-for-4 with three RBI, one run, and one double. Another player making a difference was Amelia Paske, who went 3-for-4 with one run.

Chenango Valley's defeat dropped their record down to 4-6. As for Owego Free Academy, their record is now 11-3.

Looking ahead, Chenango Valley will challenge Greene at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Owego Free Academy, they will face off against Seton Catholic Central at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
