Football Recap: Tyler Veugeler's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Georgia Force Christian over Hayesville

After flying high against Cabarrus S last Saturday, Georgia Force Christian came back down to earth. The Blue Knights received a blow on Friday as they fell 35-21 to the Hayesville Yellowjackets. The defensive woes were uncharacteristic for the Blue Knights, who until this contest were averaging 14.6 points allowed.

Georgia Force Christian lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Tyler Veugeler, who picked up 220 receiving yards and one score. Veugeler is crushing it when it comes to receiving yards: he's posted at least 113 every time he's taken the field this season. Another player making a difference was Kaden Sullards, who picked up 29 receiving yards and a pair of touchdowns.

Even if they lost, Georgia Force Christian's defensive line still kept up the pressure with three sacks. The team can thank three different players for their defensive prowess: Ian Moore, Joseph Stovall, and Brady Brown, who each picked up one sack apiece.

Tre Graves continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for Hayesville, rushing for 252 yards and five TDs while picking up 11.0 yards per carry. Graves also put in work on the defensive side of the ball, forcing one fumble and making one tackle.

Having lost for the first time this season, Georgia Force Christian fell to 4-1. As for Hayesville, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 3-1.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Georgia Force Christian will get a bit of extra time to process the defeat as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Greenville H at 7:00 p.m. on October 3. As for Hayesville, they will square off against Robbinsville at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. This will be the Yellowjackets' first chance to prove their worth in the conference.
