Baseball Recap: Elkhorn Takes a Loss

The Elkhorn Antlers came up short against the Standing Bear Grizzlies on Monday and fell 13-9. The Antlers have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Elliot Beister was cooking despite his team's loss, going 2-for-3 with one home run, three runs, and one triple. He has become a key player for Elkhorn: the team is 3-1 when he posts at least two runs, but 7-12 otherwise. Tyrus Mack also deserves some recognition as he got his first hit of the season.

Elkhorn's defeat dropped their record down to 10-13. As for Standing Bear, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five contests. That's provided a massive bump to their 7-13 record this season.

Elkhorn will take on Gross Catholic at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Antlers' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Cougars have averaged an impressive 6.5 runs per game this season. As for Standing Bear, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Kearney at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
