Basketball Recap: Waverly Vikings vs. Bishop Neumann Cavaliers

The Waverly Vikings lost against the Bishop Neumann Cavaliers back in February of 2023, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. Waverly fell just short of the Cavaliers by a score of 38-35. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Waverly has scored all season.

Waverly's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Reece Bader, who scored nine points. Nathan Axmann was another key contributor, scoring eight points.

Waverly's loss dropped their record down to 6-10. As for Bishop Neumann, the win makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 14-3.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Waverly will take on the Huskies at TBD on Friday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are closely ranked in Nebraska (Aurora is ranked 64th, while the Vikings are ranked 81st). As for Bishop Neumann, they will be playing at home against the Shamrocks at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Scotus is no doubt hoping to put an end to a three-game streak of away losses.
