Volleyball Recap: Mount Mercy Academy Takes a Loss

Mount Mercy Academy was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They lost 3-0 to the St. Mary's Lancers. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Lancers this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 3-0 back in September.

Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-9, 25-13, 25-13.

Riley Coughlin paced Mount Mercy Academy's offense, picking up three kills. Coughlin got some help from Mara McCrea and her eight assists. Finally, Rilynn Nicastro kept Mount Mercy Academy's defense grounded, leading the team with two blocks.

St. Mary's had a senior duo take command as Sarina Notaro had 13 digs and four aces and Cameryn Wanat had 22 assists and nine digs. Those 22 assists set a new season-high mark for Wanat.

Mount Mercy Academy's loss dropped their record down to 2-17. As for St. Mary's, their win bumped their record up to 34-1-2.

Mount Mercy Academy didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 3-0 defeat against Nardin Academy on the 23rd. As for St. Mary's, they have also already played their next contest, a 3-0 victory against Frontier on the 23rd.
