Basketball Recap: Franklin Community Piles Up the Points Against Greenwood

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Franklin Community). They blew past the Greenwood Woodmen 72-32 on Friday. Given the Grizzly Cubs' advantage in MaxPreps' Indiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 105th, while the Woodmen are ranked 339th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Franklin Community was led to victory by Izzy Stillabower and Maggie Doty. Stillabower went 6 of 12 en route to 17 points, while Doty posted 14 points and three steals. Those three steals gave Doty a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Addi Bright, who had nine points.

Franklin Community was working as a unit and finished the game with 16 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.

Greenwood's loss came despite strong showings from Emma Gardner and Maddison Judge. Gardner put up three points along with seven boards and three blocks, while Judge posted six points and seven rebounds.

Franklin Community is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matchups, which provided a massive bump to their 6-6 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 53.0 points per game. As for Greenwood, they are on a ten-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-9.

Franklin Community didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 79-62 defeat against Franklin Central on the 17th. As for Greenwood, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 64-32 loss against Mooresville on the 17th.
