Softball Game Preview: New Canaan Rams vs. New Milford Green Wave

The New Canaan Rams will face off against the New Milford Green Wave at 4:15 p.m. on Thursday. Both come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

New Canaan is looking to give their home crowd another W after opening their season at home on Tuesday. They came out on top against Guilford by a score of 7-3.

Meanwhile, New Milford got themselves on the board against Shepaug Valley on Wednesday, but Shepaug Valley never followed suit. They were the clear victors by a 16-0 margin over the Spartans. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Green Wave.

Lydia Rocky made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Rocky was also big at the plate, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 1-for-2.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Cienna McNamara, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, three runs, and three RBI. She is on a roll when it comes to home runs, as she's now launched at least one in each of the last three games she's played dating back to last season. Another player making a difference was Ava Kopp, who went 1-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs.

New Milford kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 16 hits. That's the most hits they've posted since back in April of 2024.
