League recap: Parkview wins, gets boost in standings

Parkview was the team that gained the most ground in the standings this week, jumping from fourth to second in AAAAAA Region 8. The Panthers defeated Brookwood 21-14 earlier in the week.

Shiloh moved up to 123 from 163 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in the league. The Generals climbed the ranks as a result of a 45-27 win over the Generals.

Archer's dynamic duo of Gabe Tiller and Will Kone proved tough for Dacula to stop, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Tiller threw for 114 yards and one touchdown and Kone had 44 yards receiving. Deondre Singleton helped Archer's passing attack out by catching two balls for 28 yards.

Chris Carson was the most productive running back in the league this week. He ran for 255 yards on 25 carries as Parkview defeated the Falcons. Teammate Mac Marshall added to the ground attack by rushing for 102 yards.

Central Gwinnett's Eman Westmoreland and Justin Brownlee have formed a dynamic duo this season, leading AAAAAA Region 8 in both passing and receiving yards. Westmoreland has thrown for 843 yards this season, while Brownlee, a 5-foot-11 receiver, has 20 catches for 391 yards. Carson from the Panthers leads the league in rushing with 725 yards.

Two highly touted recruits will be in the spotlight when Grayson and the Black Knights meet this week. The Rams features well-regarded defensive end Robert Nkemdiche while Central Gwinnett has Trey Johnson, a sought after senior.

A big matchup in the league this week will be when Grayson takes on the Black Knights. Mickey Conn's team is in third place, while Central Gwinnett is in fourth place.

South Gwinnett was able to crack the Top 25 in the state rankings this week after beating the Black Knights 42-28. The Comets came in at 20 in the state poll after placing at number 31 last week.
