The Hickory Ridge Ragin' Bulls have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won five matchups by 31 points or more this season. They simply couldn't be stopped on Friday as they easily beat South Gwinnett 52-21 on the road. Given Hickory Ridge's advantage in MaxPreps's basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 50th in North Carolina, while South Gwinnett is ranked 182nd in Georgia), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Hickory Ridge was led to victory by Amya Leathers and Ma-kaela Gidney. Leathers scored 17 points along with five rebounds and three steals, while Gidney scored 15 points along with seven rebounds and five steals. The contest was Gidney's eighth in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Sheree Gidney, who scored six points along with 11 rebounds and four steals.
The win makes it two in a row for Hickory Ridge and bumps their season record up to 9-2. As for South Gwinnett, they now have a losing record at 5-6.
