Basketball Recap: Wonderful College Prep Academy Snaps Four-Game Streak of Wins on the Road

Wonderful College Prep Academy was the 47-32 winner over Laton when they last played one another on January 10th, but their luck changed this time around. The Wonderful College Prep Academy Lions took a 52-42 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Laton Mustangs on Wednesday. While the Lions didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Mustangs 12-3 in the first quarter.

When it comes to explaining why Wonderful College Prep Academy lost, don't look at Alexis Negrete. Despite the final result, he posted 15 points. Juan Negrete was another key player, putting up 12 points.

Laton got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Jesus Bocanegra out in front who dropped a double-double on 12 points and 12 boards. Bocanegra is trending in the right direction considering he's improved his point production for three straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Jaythan Garcia, who had 12 points along with six assists and five rebounds.

Wonderful College Prep Academy's loss ended a four-game streak of away wins and brought them to 5-11. As for Laton, their victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 6-14.

Wonderful College Prep Academy has already played their next match (against Riverdale Christian), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. Laton will head out to take on Legacy Christian Academy at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Laton has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last five games.
