Basketball Recap: Damarien Floyd Key Part of Team Effort in Tigers Win + How To Watch

The home team had won the previous three meetings between Chilton County and Marbury, and Chilton County kept the tradition alive. The Tigers skirted past the Bulldogs 72-69. That's more bragging rights for the Tigers, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Chilton County's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Damarien Floyd led the charge by going 8-for-19 on his way to 28 points in addition to six boards and three steals. Those 28 points gave Floyd a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Marshall Thornhill, who dropped a double-double with 14 points and ten rebounds.

Chilton County smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 17 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive boards every time they've taken the court this season.

Despite the loss, Marbury had strong showings from Jamar Brown, who posted 22 points, and Noah Trotter, who put up 18 points along with five assists and five boards. The matchup was Trotter's third in a row with at least 16 points. Jahanthony Morrell was another key player, almost dropping a double-double with 11 points and nine rebounds.

Chilton County's record now sits at 2-3. As for Marbury, they now have a losing record of 1-2.

Coming up, Chilton County will challenge Holtville at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Marbury, they wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 66-65 victory against Selma on the 20th.
