Baseball Recap: Mishicot Find Success

It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Mishicot had no problem doing just that on Thursday. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past the Southern Door Eagles 4-2. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Indians have posted since May 28, 2024.

Nolan Sand made a splash no matter where he played. On the mound, he struck out 11 batters over seven innings while giving up just two earned runs off seven hits (and only one walk). Mishicot is 4-2 when Sand posts ten or more strikeouts, but 5-12 otherwise. Sand was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.

Sand wasn't the only one making solid contact as four players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Sawyer Sand, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base.

Mishicot is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four games. That's provided a nice bump to their 9-14 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.8 runs on average over those games. As for Southern Door, their loss was their ninth straight at home, which dropped their record down to 6-11.

As of now, neither Mishicot nor the Eagles have any future games scheduled.
