Softball Game Preview: Howard Tech Hustlin' Tigers vs. Ooltewah Owls

Howard Tech is 0-8 against Ooltewah since March of 2022 but things could change on Tuesday. Howard Tech will host Ooltewah at 5:30 p.m. The two teams are strolling into their matchups after big wins in their previous games.

Howard Tech made up a huge gap compared to their last game against Notre Dame, but they still couldn't quite topple them. Howard Tech was the clear victor by a 15-8 margin over Notre Dame last Friday. The high-scoring performance was a welcome turnaround for the Hustlin' Tigers' hitters, who had struggled in the games prior.

Meanwhile, Ooltewah never let their opponents score on Saturday. They blew past Tellico Plains 10-0. The Owls might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won six games by six runs or more this season.

Jaeda Tucker made a splash no matter where she played. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits over four innings pitched. Tucker was also big at the plate, going a perfect 2-for-2 with three RBI. She has been hot recently, having posted three or more RBI the last three times she's played.

In other batting news, Kaylin Leblanc was excellent, scoring a run while going 2-for-3. Another player making a difference was Keely Miller, who scored a run while going 2-for-3.

Ooltewah was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .500. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their batting average total in three consecutive contests.

Ooltewah has been performing well recently as they've won six of their last eight matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 8-3 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.0 runs over those games. Howard Tech's first victory this season bumped their record up to 1-3.
