Softball Preview: Yelm Tornados vs. Shelton Highclimbers

Yelm is 6-0 against Shelton since April of 2017, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Wednesday. The Yelm Tornados will look to defend their home field against the Shelton Highclimbers at 3:30 p.m. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Yelm has four straight victories, Shelton has ten straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the field.

It may have taken eight innings to finish the job, but Yelm ultimately got the result they hoped for on Monday. They came out on top against River Ridge by a score of 11-8.

Mallory Hoke spent all eight innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered six earned (and two unearned) runs on seven hits and racked up eight Ks.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Madisyn Erickson, who went 2-for-4 with a home run, three runs, and three RBI. She hasn't dropped below three RBI for three straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Elissa Dewees, who scored four runs and stole a base while going 3-for-4.

Meanwhile, Shelton fell victim to a rough 14-3 defeat at the hands of WF West on Monday.
