Robert Kellen Turns in Season-Best Effort

Independence was led to victory by Robert Kellen, who turned in his biggest game of the season on Thursday. Kellen rushed for 165 yards and two touchdowns. He is becoming a predictor of Independence's success: when he posts at least two rushing touchdowns the team is 2-1 (and 1-2 when he doesn't).

The victory got Independence back to even at 3-3. Kellen and Independence will square off against Riverside on Friday.

Justin Jordan Dazzles in Independence Victory

Justin Jordan posted a new career-high in rushing yards on Thursday. He picked up 77 receiving yards and a touchdown, and also rushed for 72 yards and a touchdown.

Lightridge's probably not too fond of Jordan given he always seems to get the better of them. When Jordan last faced Lightridge back in October of 2023, he picked up 75 receiving yards and a touchdown, and also rushed for 60 yards.

Xavier Dillard Turns in Another Game with at Least Six Total Tackles

Sadly, Xavier Dillard posting his best game of the season wasn't enough to lead Lightridge over Independence on Thursday. Dillard wasn't messing around, picking up a sack and making 18 total tackles (3.0 for loss). The matchup was his 15th straight with six or more total tackles dating back to last season.

Independence had to have seen this coming; the last time they saw Dillard it was a similar story. Back in October of 2023 (the last time Dillard saw the ), he made 14 total tackles (1.0 for loss) and defended two passes.

Riverside Gets a Boost from Evelyn in 31-21 Loss

Riverside had to settle for second on Thursday, but Robert Evelyn sure wasn't going down easily. Evelyn was unstoppable, throwing for 208 yards and three touchdowns.

For the year, Evelyn has thrown 13 touchdowns while averaging 153.3 passing yards per game. He is looking even better than he did last year: after six games last season, he was only averaging 76.33 passing yards per game.

Owen Working Makes It Two for Lightridge

The second Lightridge player making an appearance here is Owen Working, and for good reason. He threw for 297 yards and three touchdowns while picking up 11.9 yards per attempt.
