League recap: Hopewell win leads to rise in state rank

Hopewell moved up to 109 from 154 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in WPIAL AAA Parkway. The Vikings were able to make the jump by falling to Central Valley 35-17.

Montour extended the longest winning streak in the league this week by beating Blackhawk, 40-35. This was the team's seventh consecutive win.

Chandler Kincade and Cole Chiappialle gave the Cougars a balanced attack through the air and ground last week. Kincade threw for 282 yards and three touchdowns, while Chiappialle ran for 163 yards.

Devin Wilson was the best wideout in the league this week as Montour bested Blackhawk. Wilson racked up eight receptions for 136 yards. Justin Hill helped Montour's passing attack out by catching five balls for 102 yards.

Ryan Mihelcic provided a threat through the air and on the ground as Lou Cerro's team topped Joe Hamilton's team. He completed eight passes for 167 yards and three touchdowns and also ran for 68 yards.

Blackhawk's offense has been unstoppable this season and the Cougars feature the season leaders in passing, rushing and receiving yards. Kincade has thrown for 1531 yards and 11 touchdowns this season, while Alex Caratelli has 48 catches for 773 yards. Chiappialle leads the league in rushing with 995 yards.

The top two teams in the league will face off this week when first place Montour takes on second place West Allegheny. The Spartans bested the Cougars last week, while West Allegheny topped New Castle.
