South Salem faced Jesuit in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Saturday. The Saxons took a 2-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Crusaders. The Saxons' defeat signaled the end of their seven-game winning streak.

Briella Mathis paced South Salem's offense, picking up five kills. Mathis got some help from Kamree Orizotti and her ten assists. Addison Herber controlled things from the service line, finishing with two aces.

South Salem's loss dropped their record down to 19-7. As for Jesuit, the victory (which was their fifth in a row) raised their record to 18-4.

South Salem didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 3-1 win against Sprague on the 14th. As for Jesuit, they have also already played their next match, a 3-2 victory against Westview on the 14th.
