Volleyball Recap: Hinkley Takes a Loss

Hinkley managed to slip by Denver East the last time these teams faced off, but didn't have those same answers this time around. The Thunder lost 3-0 to the Angels on Wednesday. The Thunder were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Angels apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in April of 2024.

The loss didn't mean the game wasn't competitive: Denver East scored at least 17 points in every set. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-18, 25-19, 25-17.

Luis Rangel Cepeda paced Hinkley's offense, picking up five kills. Rangel Cepeda got some help from Sanip Rai and his seven assists.

This is the second loss in a row for Hinkley and nudges their season record down to 6-5. As for Denver East, their victory ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 6-5.

We've got plenty of inter-league action coming up soon. Hinkley will take on rival Regis Groff at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Meanwhile, Denver East is set to face off against their familiar foe DSST: College View at 4:30 p.m. on Friday.
