Baseball Game Preview: Wellington School Jaguars vs. Grove City Christian Eagles

Wellington School hasn't had much luck against Grove City Christian recently, but that could start to change on Monday. The Jaguars are taking a road trip to square off against the Eagles at 5:05 p.m. Wellington School's pitching crew has only allowed 1.9 runs per game this season, so Grove City Christian's hitters will have their work cut out for them.

Wellington School is coming in off a wild two-game stretch: after soaring to 13 runs on Tuesday, they were much more limited against Bishop Rosecrans on Friday. They fell just short of the Bishops by a score of 1-0. The matchup marked the first time this season in which the Jaguars were not able to get on the board.

Grandview Heights hit Grove City Christian with a five-run third inning on Thursday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Eagles might be feeling deja-vu: they lost 10-0 to the Bobcats, which was the same score (and result) they got the week prior. The Eagles have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Grove City Christian saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Jeff Collins, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base.

Wellington School's defeat dropped their record down to 11-3. As for Grove City Christian, their loss dropped their record down to 5-7-2.

Wellington School might still be hurting after the 11-2 defeat they got from Grove City Christian in their previous matchup back in April of 2024. Can the Jaguars avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
