Ocean View Christian took a seven-run loss the last time they faced off against St. Joseph Academy, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Patriots sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with an 8-6 victory over the Crusaders on Tuesday. For the Patriots, this counts as revenge for the 11-4 win the Crusaders walked away with the last time they faced one another back in April of 2022.

Tyler Cauley made a splash while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching five innings while giving up four earned (and one unearned) runs off six hits. Cauley was also big at the plate, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 1-for-4.

In other batting news, Cristian Herring was excellent, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 2-for-4. Another player making a difference was Parker Broersma, who got on base in three of his five plate appearances with one stolen base and one RBI.

Ocean View Christian always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .537. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as St. Joseph Academy only posted an OBP of .355.

Ocean View Christian pushed their record up to 5-1 with the victory, which was their third straight on the road. The road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.0 runs over those games. As for St. Joseph Academy, they are on a six-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-10.

Ocean View Christian wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next game, a 1-0 victory against Warner on the 11th. As for St. Joseph Academy, they have also already played their next matchup, a 14-5 defeat against Borrego Springs on the 11th.
