Recap: Riverside Rangers vs. Austin Panthers
The Riverside Rangers had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 57 points), and they went ahead and made it three on Friday. They walked away with a 29-20 victory over Austin. That's another feather in the cap for Riverside, who also won these teams' last head-to-head.
Riverside got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Derek Vasquez out in front who threw for 165 yards and two touchdowns while completing 71.4% of his passes, and also punched in a touchdown on the ground. Another player making a difference was Noah Ramirez, who rushed for 108 yards and a touchdown on only 14 carries.
Despite the loss, Austin still got an impressive performance from Ruben Bustillos, who rushed for 195 yards and a touchdown while picking up 7.8 yards per carry. Oscar Flores was another key contributor, rushing for 76 yards and a touchdown.
Riverside's win bumped their record up to 7-2. As for Austin, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-5.
Coincidentally, the two teams will both be playing Bowie the next time they take the field. Austin will host Bowie at 0:00 a.m. on Friday, while Riverside will head out to face them at 0:00 a.m. on November 3rd.
