Recap: Preston Knights vs. Lincoln Cougars
The Preston Knights's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Thursday after their fourth straight loss. They ended up on the wrong side of a rough 69-45 walloping at the hands of Lincoln. Preston lost against Lincoln in their previous head to head back in February, too, but the margin this time around was much wider than the 60-33 score last time.
Despite the loss, Preston saw an underclassman step up: Easton Hayes scored ten points. Hayes also posted two blocks for the first time this season. Another player making a difference was Aidan Schmidl, who scored nine points along with five rebounds.
Preston's defeat dropped their record down to 2-4. As for Lincoln, the win got them back to even at 3-3.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Preston won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Philip Barbour at 5:00 p.m. on December 29th. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in West Virginia (Philip Barbour is ranked 64th, while Preston is ranked 89th). Lincoln will be staying on the road on Wednesday to face off against Elkins at 7:30 p.m. on January 3, 2024.
