The Royse City Bulldogs will square off against the Tyler Legacy Raiders at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Royse City has given up an average of 25.7 points per game this season, but Friday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.
On Friday, Royse City lost to Forney on the road by a 40-26 margin. The matchup marked the Bulldogs' lowest-scoring contest so far this season.
Royse City might have lost, but man, Jamion Richardson was a machine: he rushed for 123 yards and a pair of touchdowns on only 12 carries, and also threw for 193 yards and one TD. The bulk of those rushing yards came from one huge play: a run that gained an incredible 75 yards.
Even if they lost, Royse City's defensive line still kept up the pressure with six sacks. Herschel Pratt was especially locked on to Forney's QB and sacked him three times. Teagon Woods was another major factor on D, making 20 total tackles.
Meanwhile, Tyler Legacy played a tough game on Friday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They took a blow against North Forney, falling 71-19. While losing is never fun, the Raiders can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas football rankings (they are ranked 153rd, while the Falcons are ranked 21st).
Royse City will need to focus on slowing down Cason Gray, one of several Tyler Legacy players who made an impact when they last played. He threw for 183 yards and one touchdown, and also rushed for 34 yards and one score. Tyler Legacy also got a significant boost from Bam White, who ran away from the competition to the tune of 80 yards.
Tyler Legacy has traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 2-4 record this season. As for Royse City, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-2.
Friday's matchup might be decided on the ground. Royse City has been excellent on the ground this season, having averaged 191.8 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like Tyler Legacy struggles in that department as they've been averaging 186.2 rushing yards. There's a good chance Friday's game turns into a tough fight on the ground.
