Baseball Recap: Northern Nash Comes Up Short

If Northern Nash was riding high fresh off their 11-0 takedown of Franklinton last Friday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Knights fell just short of the Roanoke Rapids Yellowjackets by a score of 7-6 on Tuesday. The Knights were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Yellowjackets apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in March of 2024.

Andrew Taylor and Tristan Murray did some serious damage despite the final result: Taylor scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-3, while Murray scored two runs and stole a base while going 1-for-4. Murray is becoming a predictor of Northern Nash's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is 3-1 (and 2-5 when he doesn't). Another player making a difference was Hylan Wheeler, who scored a run while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.

Northern Nash now has a losing record of 5-6. As for Roanoke Rapids, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 7-4.

While Northern Nash had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday.
