Basketball Game Preview: Cardinal O'Hara Hawks vs. St. Mary's Lancers

Cardinal O'Hara and St. Mary are an even 5-5 against one another since February of 2020, but not for long. The Cardinal O'Hara Hawks will host the St. Mary's Lancers at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, both will really light up the scoreboard.

Cardinal O'Hara is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They came out on top against Global Concepts by a score of 63-52 on Friday.

Meanwhile, St. Mary's came up short against Iroquois last Saturday and fell 81-72. While losing is never fun, the Lancers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' New York basketball rankings (they are ranked 406th, while the Redhawks are ranked 129th).

Cardinal O'Hara will have to contain Will Szablewski as he made an impact in St. Mary's last game. He dropped a double-double on 30 points and 13 boards. That's the most points Szablewski has posted since back in February of 2024. Israel Wilson was another key player, putting up 16 points and five steals.

Cardinal O'Hara's win bumped their record up to 4-5. As for St. Mary's, their loss dropped their record down to 3-6.
