Baseball Game Preview: Poston Butte Broncos vs. Dobson Mustangs

It'll be an old-fashioned rodeo when the Broncos duke it out with the Mustangs at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. Having both just faced considerable losses, both teams are looking to turn things around.

Poston Butte saw some tournament action on Friday. They came up short against Cibola, falling 8-1. The Broncos have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Poston Butte saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Wyatt Albertson, who went 2-for-3 with one RBI.

Meanwhile, Dobson lost 22-6 to Seton Catholic on Thursday. The Mustangs haven't had much luck with the Sentinels recently, as the team has come up short the last five times they've met.

Brenston Velasquez made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and fired off two home runs and four RBI while going 3-for-3. What's more, he posted three hits, the most he's had since back in February of 2024. Another player making a difference was Aaron Mutascio, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-3.

Dobson's defeat dropped their record down to 1-1. As for Poston Butte, they now have a losing record of 1-2.

Poston Butte took their win against Dobson when the teams last played back in February of 2024 by a conclusive 10-2. Will Poston Butte repeat their success, or does Dobson have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
