Volleyball Recap: John Paul II Falls Despite Big Games from Lucy Schwabauer and Summer Hodge

John Paul II saw some tournament action on Saturday. They took a 2-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Westminster Christian Warriors.

John Paul II's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Summer Hodge, who had 12 digs and three assists, and Lucy Schwabauer, who had 19 assists and four digs. Schwabauer has been hot for a while, having posted 12 or more assists the last 44 times she's played. Blair Stoneham also deserves some recognition as she posted her first assist of the season.

John Paul II has been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 27-12 record this season. As for Westminster Christian, the victory (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 12-8.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming contests. John Paul II will head out to square off against Ursuline Academy at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. This will be the Cardinals' first chance to prove their worth in the conference. As for Westminster Christian, they will face off against St. Thomas Aquinas at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday.
