Baseball Game Preview: Lucas Cubs vs. Mt. Gilead Indians

The Lucas Cubs will face off against the Mt. Gilead Indians at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. Having both just faced considerable losses, both teams are looking to turn things around.

Lucas is headed into Thursday's match looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their third straight game on Wednesday. They lost 9-2 to East Knox.

Lucas saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Anthony Fanello, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base and one run.

Loudonville hit Mt. Gilead with a four-run sixth inning on Friday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Indians came up short against the Redbirds, falling 10-4.

Hayden Somerlot made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases and two runs.

Lucas' defeat dropped their record down to 10-8. As for Mt. Gilead, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost ten of their last 11 games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-18 record this season.

Lucas took their win against Mt. Gilead in their previous matchup back in April of 2023 by a conclusive 11-0 score. Will the Cubs repeat their success, or do the Indians have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
