Basketball Recap: Peoria Notre Dame Irish vs. Newark Norsemen
After flying high against Earlville on Friday, Peoria Notre Dame came back down to earth. The Irish were dealt a 78-31 loss at the hands of the Newark Norsemen on Friday. The Irish were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Norsemen apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in December of 2021.
Newark had a senior duo take command as Cody Kulbartz dropped a double-double with 20 points and 15 rebounds and Reggie Chapman dropped a double-double with 13 points and 16 assists. With that strong performance, Chapman is now averaging an impressive 8.8 assists per game. Nolan Anderson was another key player, going 5-for-6 en route to 11 points and six boards.
Peoria Notre Dame's loss dropped their record down to 1-1. As for Newark, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 2-2.
Peoria Notre Dame has already played their next contest, a 71-61 win against Cornerstone Christian on the 28th. As for Newark, they are headed away from home for the first time to take on Plano at 6:45 p.m. on Wednesday.
