Baseball Recap: Family Christian Extends Winning Streak to Two

Family Christian extended their postseason success on Wednesday against St. Joseph's - Plaucheville. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Eagles a 10-0 shutout. Considering the Flames have won 15 contests by more than five runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.

Sam Stewart was a major factor no matter where he played. He didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out six over five innings pitched. He also tossed no walks, which is notable because Family Christian is 7-2 when he allows at most one walk, but 10-12 otherwise. Stewart was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with three RBI and one triple. That triple was his first of the season.

In other batting news, Family Christian got a big performance out of Trinston Williams, who went 2-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and one double. Williams is becoming a predictor of the Flames' success: when he posts at least two runs the team is undefeated (and 13-14 when he doesn't). Another player making a difference was Devyn Baker, who went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, one run, and one double.

Family Christian was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .435. They are a perfect 6-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

The win made it two in a row for Family Christian and bumps their season record up to 17-14. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 4 runs in those games. As for St. Joseph's - Plaucheville, they have been struggling recently as they've lost five of their last six matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 10-13 record this season.

As of now, neither Family Christian nor St. Joseph's - Plaucheville have any future games scheduled.
