Basketball Recap: Make It Four in a Row for Sunrise Mountain

While Sunrise Mountain didn't have the best season last year (they finished 10-16), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past. They enjoyed a cozy 75-61 win over the Mica Mountain Thunderbolts on Saturday. 75 seems to be a good number for the Mustangs as the team scooped up a victory with the same number of points in their previous game.

Sunrise Mountain was led to victory by Colton Buckner and Isaac Maskovich. Buckner shot 88% from the field en route to 17 points and six boards, while Maskovich went 6-for-9 from beyond the arc on his way to 22 points. Thanks to that strong game, Buckner now owns an excellent 52.8% shooting accuracy. Carter Pendelton also deserves some recognition as he posted his first block of the season.

The win was the fourth in a row for Sunrise Mountain, bringing their record up to 4-1. The victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 73.5 points over those games. As for Mica Mountain, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-1.

Looking ahead, Sunrise Mountain will take on Central at 7:00 p.m. on the 8th. As for Mica Mountain, they are taking a road trip to take on ALA - Gilbert North at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
