The Green Hope Falcons will venture away from home to square off against the Green Level Gators at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Green Hope is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 9.8 runs per game this season.
On Monday, Green Hope needed a bit of extra time to put away East Chapel Hill. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 7-6 victory over the Wildcats. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Falcons have posted since March 19th.
Rachael Baldyga made a big impact no matter where she played. On the mound, she tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 12 consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, getting on base in all five of her plate appearances with four RBI, two runs, and one triple. That's the most RBI she has posted over her last 11 matchups.
In other pitching news, Leah Medlin tossed a big game, tossing six innings while giving up four earned runs off four hits.
Back at the plate, the team relied heavily on Ainsley Campbell, who went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases and one run. The team also got some help courtesy of Kai Alesio, who went 1-for-4 with two runs and one triple.
Green Hope was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .412. They are a perfect 9-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.
Meanwhile, Green Level was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their fifth straight defeat. They fell 8-5 to Apex.
Green Hope now has a winning record of 10-9. As for Green Level, their loss dropped their record down to 7-11.
Everything went Green Hope's way against Green Level in their previous matchup on April 7th, as Green Hope made off with a 12-6 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Falcons since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
