Baseball Recap: Lutheran West Comes Up Short

Lutheran West lost against Independence back in April of 2024, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Monday. The Longhorns took a 9-6 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Blue Devils.

Derek Petrigac was cooking despite his team's loss, going 1-for-4 with three RBI and one run. Jeansiel Vargas Ortiz was another key player, going 1-for-2 with one run and one RBI.

Lutheran West's defeat dropped their record down to 8-4. As for Independence, they pushed their record up to 9-2 with the win, which was their eighth straight at home.

While Lutheran West had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
