Basketball Recap: Braddock Bulldogs vs. Sunset Knights
In what's become a running theme this season, the Braddock Bulldogs gave their fans yet another huge victory on Wednesday. They put the hurt on Sunset with a sharp 53-33 victory. Given Braddock's advantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 206th, while the Knights are ranked 542nd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Leading Braddock to victory were Elsa Stier and Yvonne Jebian. Stier dropped a double-double on ten rebounds and 11 assists, while Jebian scored 25 points along with eight rebounds and two steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Jebian has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Anna Rubiera, who scored six points.
Despite the loss, Sunset still got an impressive performance from Bianca Pacheco, who scored 17 points along with seven steals and five rebounds. Pacheco is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed three or more in the last five games she's played.
Braddock is on a roll lately: they've won 11 of their last 14 matches, which provided a nice bump to their 14-7 record this season. As for Sunset, they dropped their record down to 7-13 with that loss, which was their fourth straight on the road.
Braddock will challenge the Falcons at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Sunset, they will be playing at home against the Cavaliers at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. Coral Gables will be looking to extend their current three-game winning streak.
