Basketball Game Preview: Baraboo Thunderbirds vs. McFarland Spartans

The Baraboo Thunderbirds will face off against the McFarland Spartans at 7:15 p.m. on Friday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: both posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.

Last Tuesday, Baraboo came up short against Mount Horeb and fell 78-67. The defeat continues a trend for the Thunderbirds in their matchups with the Vikings: they've now lost five in a row.

Meanwhile, McFarland had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 10.5 points) and they went ahead and made it three on Tuesday. They walked away with a 69-61 win over the Eagles.

McFarland is also on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six contests, which provided a nice bump to their 11-5 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 74.3 points per game. As for Baraboo, their loss ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 11-7.

Things could have been worse for Baraboo, but things could have been a whole lot better as they took an 85-71 loss to McFarland when the teams last played back in December of 2024.
