Flag Football Recap: Wilcox Takes a Loss

Wilcox lost against Los Gatos back in October of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Saturday. The Chargers fell 19-7 to the Wildcats. While losing is never fun, the Chargers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California flag football rankings (they are ranked 524th, while the Wildcats are ranked 103rd).

Los Gatos' success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Sophie Riese led the charge by picking up 130 receiving yards and two scores. The bulk of those receiving yards came from one huge play: a catch that gained an incredible 70 yards. The team also got some help courtesy of Helena Younan, who threw for 214 yards and three TDs while picking up 10.7 yards per attempt.

Wilcox's loss dropped their record down to 5-8-2. As for Los Gatos, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 9-4.

Coming up, Wilcox will take on Presentation in a tournament on Saturday. The two teams have allowed few points on average (the Chargers 11.7, the Panthers 11.2) so any points scored will be well earned.
