Baseball Recap: Junipero Serra Beats Los Gatos for Their Third Straight Win

Junipero Serra won against Sacred Heart Prep last Thursday with six runs and they decided to stick to that run total again on Saturday. The Junipero Serra Padres walked away with a 6-1 win over the Los Gatos Wildcats. The Padres' victory was nothing new given the team hasn't lost yet this season.

Ian Josephson made a splash no matter where he played. On the mound, he tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. What's more, he gave up only one walk, the fewest he's had since back in March of 2024. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with one stolen base and one double. Josephson is crushing it when it comes to stolen bases: he's stole at least one every time he's taken the field this season.

In other pitching news, Richie Calderon looked comfortable as he tossed three innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits.

Josephson wasn't the only one making solid contact as four players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Tyler Harrison, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base.

Junipero Serra's record now sits at 3-0. As for Los Gatos, their defeat was their first of the season and makes their record 2-1.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Junipero Serra will be defending their home field for the first time this season when they go up against Capuchino at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Los Gatos, they will be defending their home field for the first time this season when they go up against King's Academy at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
