Softball Recap: Alcona Takes a Loss

Alcona was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They came up short against the Mio-Au Sable Thunderbolts, falling 12-5. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Thunderbolts this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 15-1 on Monday.

Elliyana Grimshaw made the most of her time in the batter's box despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with four RBI and one double. Another player making a difference was Jordyn Somers, who went 2-for-3 with two runs.

Alcona's loss dropped their record down to 12-9. As for Mio-Au Sable, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 5-5.

Looking ahead, Alcona will square off against Oscoda at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Mio-Au Sable, they didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next matchup, a 9-8 defeat against Tawas Area on the 14th.
