Classical and East Greenwich are an even 4-4 against one another since June of 2021, but not for long. The Purple will head out to square off against the Avengers at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. East Greenwich took a loss in their last match and will be looking to turn the tables on Classical, who comes in off a win.

Classical is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Rhode Island's top teams: Chariho, who was ranked fifth at the time (Classical was ranked second). The Purple were the clear victors by a 3-0 margin over the Chargers on Tuesday. The Purple haven't had any issues with the Chargers recently, as the game was their third consecutive win against them.

While Classical won a shutout, things came down to the wire in the third set they played. The final score came out to 25-16, 25-19, 27-25.

Meanwhile, East Greenwich was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They fell 3-1 to La Salle Academy.

East Greenwich's defeat dropped their record down to 5-7. As for Classical, their victory bumped their record up to 9-3.

Classical came out on top in a nail-biter against East Greenwich when the teams last played back in May of 2024, sneaking past 3-2. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Purple since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
