Baseball Recap: Pepin/Alma Comes Up Short

Pepin/Alma extended their losing streak (dating back to last season) to four on Friday, dropping them down to 0-3. They lost 16-8 to the Whitehall Vikings. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Eagles of the 6-3 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in April of 2025.

As for Whitehall, the win got them back to even at 2-2. With that victory, they brought their scoring average up to 8.2 runs per game.

For Whitehall's part, Riley Herman was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out nine over five innings pitched. Those nine strikeouts gave Herman a new career-high. He was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in four of his five plate appearances with three runs, two RBI, and one double.

In other batting news, Whitehall let Brett Schorbahn and Grayson Pronschinski run wild. Schorbahn went 3-for-6 with five RBI, three runs, and one triple, while Pronschinski got on base in four of his five plate appearances with three runs, two doubles, and one stolen base. That triple marked the first that Schorbahn has hit this season. Another player making a difference was Jacob Sartor, who went 2-for-4 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one double.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Pepin/Alma will head out to face off against Independence/Gilmanton at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Whitehall, they will venture away from home to square off against Cadott at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
