Softball Recap: Ganado Comes Up Short

Ganado extended their losing streak to seven on Friday, dropping them down to 5-17-1. They took a 7-4 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Rehoboth Christian Lynx. The Hornets were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Lynx apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in March of 2019.

As for Rehoboth Christian, the win (which was their ninth in a row) raised their record to 10-6. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.9 runs on average over those games.

For Rehoboth Christian's part, Mylah Manuelito spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned (and one unearned) runs on four hits and racked up 13 Ks. Manuelito has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Sage West, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with three runs and one double. The team also got some help courtesy of Lyla L. Mazon, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with three stolen bases and two runs.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Ganado will host Window Rock at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. The Hornets' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Fighting Scouts have averaged an impressive 7.2 runs per game this season. As for Rehoboth Christian, they will look to defend their home field on Tuesday against Laguna Acoma at 4:00 p.m.
