Baseball Recap: Sugar Creek Charter Takes a Loss

Sugar Creek Charter fell victim to Jackson Day and their airtight pitching crew on Friday. They came up short against the Mariners, falling 17-0. The defeat leaves the Wildcats still looking for their first win of the season.

Sugar Creek Charter saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Ashton Gatewood, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one triple and one RBI. That triple was Gatewood's first of the season.

Sugar Creek Charter's loss dropped their record down to 0-6. As for Jackson Day, their victory ended a five-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 2-6.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Sugar Creek Charter will venture away from home to challenge Piedmont Community Charter at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Jackson Day, they will head out to face off against West Mecklenburg at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday.
