Volleyball Recap: Six Straight Home Victories for Prairie View

Prairie View proved they can win big on Saturday (they won by three) and on Saturday they proved they can win the close ones too. They came out on top in a nail-biter against The Academy Wildcats, sneaking past 3-2. That's more bragging rights for the Thunderhawks, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Prairie View was staring down a 2-1 deficit headed into the fourth set, but they rallied to take the next two for the win. The final score came out to 23-25, 25-12, 25-27, 25-17, 15-7.

Despite the loss, The Academy saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Honor Montoya had 15 digs. Those 15 digs set a new season-high mark for Montoya.

Prairie View's victory was their sixth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 10-4. As for The Academy, they have been struggling recently as they've lost six of their last seven matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-9 record this season.

Prairie View will head out to challenge Westminster at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for The Academy, they will face off against Prospect Ridge Academy at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday.
