Volleyball Preview: Lockwood LIONS vs. Hardin Bulldogs
The Lockwood LIONS are taking a road trip to square off against the Hardin Bulldogs at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Lockwood will be strutting in after a win while Hardin will be coming in after a defeat.
While Lockwood's victory against Park wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The LIONS narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past the Rangers 3-2. The victory was a breath of fresh air for the LIONS as it put an end to their three-match losing streak.
Lockwood took Park into a fifth set where they got it done with a three-point win. The match finished with set scores of 22-25, 25-13, 25-19, 19-25, 15-12.
Meanwhile, Hardin didn't have quite enough to beat Laurel on Saturday and fell 3-2.
In a back-and-forth that saw neither team win consecutive sets, Hardin sadly dropped the once that decided the match. The final score came out to 25-16, 22-25, 25-18, 25-27, 15-9.
Despite the loss, Hardin saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Ella Carleton had 22 digs and five aces. Carleton is on a roll when it comes to digs, as she's now had 17 or more in each of the last three games she's played.
Hardin has been struggling recently as they've lost five of their last six matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-12-1 record this season. As for Lockwood, their win bumped their record up to 8-15.
