Grandview is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Colorado's top teams: Grand Junction, who was ranked 22nd at the time (Grandview was ranked fourth). Grandview never let Grand Junction get on the board and left with a 9-0 victory on Saturday. Considering the Wolves have won six contests by more than five runs this season, Saturday's blowout was nothing new.
Josiah Giron tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run over five innings pitched.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Matthew Schimberg, who went 3-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI. Chase Chapman was another key player, scoring a run while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.
Meanwhile, Vista PEAK Prep fought the good fight in their extra-innings game against Eaglecrest on Saturday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell 13-10 to the Raptors. The Bison have struggled against the Raptors recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive lost meeting.
Brody Brancato made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-5 with four RBI and one triple. The team also got some help courtesy of Ezra Wise, who scored two runs while going 2-for-4.
Grandview pushed their record up to 7-1 with the win, which was their fourth straight on the road. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.3 runs over those games. As for Vista PEAK Prep, their loss dropped their record down to 4-6.
